Dr. Lisa Weeth, DVM, DACVIM (Nutrition)
Veterinary Nutrition Consultant
Dr. Lisa Weeth earned her veterinary degree from the University of California, Davis, in 2002, followed by a residency in Clinical Nutrition at the same institution. Board certified in Veterinary Nutrition since 2007, she has been providing specialized nutrition consultations both in-person and via telemedicine. Currently heading the Nutrition Department at Metropolitan Animal Specialty Hospital in Los Angeles since 2018, Dr. Weeth is also an active lecturer at various veterinary conferences, serves on the WSAVA Global Nutrition Committee, and sits on the Executive Board for the American Association of Veterinary Nutrition.
Dr. Renan Antunes Donadelli, Ph.D.
Project Development Scientist
Dr. Donadelli holds degrees in Agronomy Engineering, Animal Science and Pastures, and Grain Science and Industry, with focuses ranging from agricultural water use to pet nutrition and food processing. With nine years dedicated to studying and researching pet foods, and five years of professional experience, Dr. Donadelli specializes in fiber in pet nutrition, pet food processing, ingredient testing, and pet food sensory analysis.

Dr. Amanda Dainton, Ph.D.
Product Development Scientist
Dr. Dainton's focus was on micronutrients and hydrocolloids in canned pet foods while earning her doctorate at Kansas State University. Amanda also holds a master’s degree in Nutritional Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a bachelor’s degree in Feed Science and Management from Kansas State University. She has presented her research at various industry conferences and guest lectures to university classes.

Dr. Kelly Swanson, Ph.D.
University Research Liaison
Dr. Swanson holds a PhD in Nutrition, serves as the Director of Nutritional Sciences and Professor in Animal Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research expertise includes Animal Nutrition and Nutrigenomics, Dietary Effects on the Gut Microbiome, Gastrointestinal Health, and Obesity. He has experience working with the pet food industry since 1997 and has supported several of our research initiatives within academic testing facilities.
Dr. Anuraj Sukumaran, DVM, Ph.D.
Senior Food Microbiologist
Dr. Sukumaran currently leads several research projects to enhance the shelf life and safety of Freshpet products. He brings to us 10+ years of experience leading research projects in Food Safety Microbiology and Meat and Poultry Sciences. He is also a veterinarian and an accomplished scientific communicator and speaker.

Veterinary Practice Communications and Support
Dr. Brookshire has been offering veterinary customer support to the pet food industry since 2007. Leading a dedicated team of five veterinarians, she specializes in assisting veterinarians and pet parents with nutrition related issues With speaking engagements at veterinary and industry conferences, and brand training seminars, Dr. Brookshire brings extensive expertise to the intersection of veterinary practice and pet nutrition counseling.
Dr. Beth Hamper, DVM, Ph.D., DACVN
Veterinary Nutrition Consultant
Dr. Beth Hamper is a board-certified Veterinary Nutritionist with extensive experience in consulting on nutrition for dogs and cats, both healthy and with medical conditions, since 2007. Holding a PhD in Comparative Medicine focused on raw meat diets in cats, she has also consulted with the pet food industry on optimizing nutrition in pet foods since 2015. Additionally, Dr. Hamper is an author of nutrition-related chapters in veterinary textbooks and scholarly articles.
